Tanzania and India have agreed to strengthen their relationship


Tanzania and India have agreed to ensure that their historical relationship is maintained and strengthened to increase the speed of development between the two countries

That is specified by the President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan that Tanzania and India have agreed to develop their historical relationship between the two nations at the level of Strategic Partnership.

President Samia has said this during a press conference during his 3-day national visit to India.

Among the issues that the leaders have emphasized in cooperation include defense, energy, capacity building, maritime security, trade and investment.

By 2022, the trade volume between the two countries will reach 3.1 billion US dollars, making India the third largest trading partner and the fifth largest investor in Tanzania.

At the same time, the two countries have signed 14 agreements and one contract, where 10 documents involve government institutions and five belong to the private sector.

In addition to the fact that India is already helping Tanzania in matters of kidney and bone marrow transplantation, the leaders have also discussed how to establish a natural medicine center.

President Samia has also thanked for the establishment of the first campus of the IIT college outside India with a high status in terms of technology in Zanzibar islands which will benefit various students, not only in Tanzania but even outside the borders.

Other issues discussed during President Samia's visit include network security, engaging young people especially through VETA colleges, providing training to mining engineers, collaborating on agriculture and water projects.
